Just like that the Cape 31 Fleet is gearing up for Round Three of the 31 Race Circuit at the Royal Southern Yacht club this weekend (4th-5th June). After two highly contested Rounds the fleet will be out in force on the start line as part of the Queen's Jubilee Celebrations.
The Race Circuit had plenty of place changes on the leaderboard after Round 2 - there is some consolidation to be done and some close battles to be continued. Following their win in Round 2 and second place in Round 1 the Tokoloshe team sit top of the leaderboard with 3 points, Shotgunn in second with 6 and Jubilee in third with 8 points. A strong start to the season for these teams but with 4 more events still to come a lot can change. Second to 10th on the overall standings is only separated by 12 points - one good/bad result will make all the difference on the scoreboard.
With several classes out to play it will be a great chance to showcase the boats once again with hotly contested starts and mark roundings, nip and tuck crosses with places gained and lost all over the course. It 's becoming clear that it takes great teamwork, good tactical calls and a level head to do well in this fleet.
